I went to a matinée to see this movie. Movies are so damn expensive these days. I would have to say this was an okay movie. I would give it a C+. I wasn’t totally blown away. My friend asked me if I seen The Wrath of Khan. I told her no. I got the ” how can you be a Trekkie and not seen The Wrath of Khan.”
Sitting at home bored out of my mind, guess what showed up on my Netflicks. The Wrath of Khan. I had to watch and see what she was talking about. This movie was made in 1982 and the one we saw was made in at least 2011 I believe. The Wrath of Khan did feel dated. Now being so use to the special effects of this generation.
I have to say I was impressed with the story line of The Wrath of Khan. We got to meet Captain Kirk’s bastard son. We all know he was a playboy. I guess condoms were not on his mind.
They flipped everything in the new movie. Captain Kirk put his life on the line in the new movie. In The Wrath of Khan it was Spock. It was almost identical how they risk there lives in both movies. It was also interesting if you remember in the 2009 Star Trek James T. Kirk reconfigured the test of how to deal with death at Star Fleet. He did this to beat the test because he doesn’t like to lose. He almost got kicked out. It was referred to in The Wrath of Khan and that James T. Kirk got a commendation for being creative.
So they took a spin and creative license with what they would keep and certain things they changed. The Wrath of Khan was a better movie. I really enjoyed the storyline. I also realized I have seen parts of it on T.V. over the years.
There are few interesting things about the New Star Trek series. Such as Uhura and Spock having a relationship. That was an interesting twist I wouldn’t mind seeing more of.
I wouldn’t call them the greatest actors in the world. They have created a cult following that is hard to achieve.
If you are a fan of the old characters it is hard to connect with their new versions. If they old version didn’t exist there would be no comparison to downgrade the new and improve Star Trek crew!! I can’t help it I am old school!!

It kept coming up on my Netflix suggestions. I ignored it, thinking it wasn’t a movie I would enjoy. I was board and decided to give it a shot. I laughed a lot.
The premise of the movie. Two outcast finding each other randomly and becoming great friends. Her wanting a father and being very promiscuous played by Juno Temple. Her new best friend a gay character having the gay beat out of him by his father played by Jeremy Dozier. Two very different characters put together and had great chemistry. It was great and not what I expected.
They went on a mission to find her father. They took you through a series of circumstances that were deep and entertaining. I have to say the scene that had me laughing the hardest. Was the car dance scene.
I feel these actors did a great job. It was an offbeat, quirky movie. I never heard of this movie before, but glad I gave it a chance. I would give it a B. If you got Netflix give it a shot. Tell me what you think.

I did not like this movie at all. I thought it was going to be extremely funny. The commercial looked dull, I figured they didn’t show the funny parts. How can Seth Rogen be boring. He was in Super Bad and Knocked UP. Also another comic icon Barbra Streisand. Her performance in Meet the Fockers was commanding laughs every time she had a scene. You would think putting this two people together would make a great comedy.
Knowing these two actors I am not going to blame them. They couldn’t breathe life into this bad script. The movie felt like I was watching other movies. Especially the scene where she needed to eat a big steak to win a contest. I know I show my age to knowing this movie, but John Candy in The Great Outdoors.
She even copied when John Candy took the first bite and it was a very little piece of food. Come on, I couldn’t believe the lack or originality. When they reached the strip club, could have been a perfect opportunity for Barbara to do a strip tease. Or something. She gave the stripper advice to put on a jacket in the cold. I just shook my head.
This film was also beyond predictable. I was expecting some outlandish comedy that these two are known for.
A Jewish mom harassing her son about his lack of relationship. The son wanting to achieve something but won’t take his mother advice because he thinks she knows nothing. He took her on a trip to use her to help his business. They bond by the end of the movie. This movie was pretty boring with nothing to really enjoy. These two people are known for getting great laughs. They failed miserably. Don’t go see this movie. Rent it for a 1.20 on Red Box so you don’t feel robbed. I give this movie a big F.
Okay I am lame. Redbox was a stop for my Friday night activities. I was looking for something interesting. Someone dying of cancer was not my first choice of a fun night. I thought what the hell it is only a dollar and some change. This was a good movie. I give it a B+. I didn’t really like the acting of the therapist. She brought the movie down in my opinion. Her character didn’t ring true. It really seemed like she was trying to hard.
The main character Adam played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt was done very well. I know you hear that name and you think who the hell is that. The funny thing is when you see his face you know he has been in many movies. I just couldn’t think of any of them. He is an easily forgettable character. Just like Sarah Jessica Parker before Sex in the City. Seth Rogen who played his best friend did a good job also. He always seems to play the same character. A cool friend that likes to have fun and talk shit. Well if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. He does a great job playing that character and this movie was no different.
I did have tears in my eyes at the end. Under 30 and going through bullshit of possible death. I don’t know how I would deal with it. I really felt for this guy. Even thought the movie seemed quick, but moved slow. I remember watching Beaches (Yes the chick flick most women knows) that movie seemed very long but moved very quickly. All in all I did like the movie.
It does make you look at your life and start to appreciate. It can always happen to you!!!
I don’t know how she does it. I couldn’t make it through twenty minutes of this movie. Ten minutes in I could careless about how she does it. The movie was completely boring and uninteresting. I don’t know if it was the writing which was less than remarkable. I am sick of Sarah Jessica Parker. All the movies where she is a main character suck. Let me not even go into Sex in the City. That movie speaks for itself. It was garbage. That is coming from a die-hard sex in the city fan. I truly believe some actresses are always supporting actresses. Mrs. Parker is one of them. I liked her in movies that you didn’t really notice her. Such as Footloose, or the First Wives Club. They are trying to hard to make her a leading lady. She is not Leading Lady material.
It really showed in this movie. The one saving grace is I got this movie from Red box. A dollar and some change. The cheap price made me less mad of spending twenties minutes of time watching this crappy movie. Time I will never get back. I advise you if you are looking for entertainment, Do not to rent this movie.
